Baseball ready for opener

The Tigers baseball team will open the 2009 season on Sunday with a doubleheader vs. Mount St. Joseph. The game will be played in Winter Haven, Florida as part of the Russ Matt Tournament. Wittenberg is coming off a 19-19 season and a 7-9 finish in the conference. The Tigers failed to make the NCAC tournament. [...]

Wooster defeated Wabash 84-72 to win the NCAC Men’s Tournament. The Scots are headed back to the NCAA Tournament.
The women’s tournament was claimed by Ohio Wesleyan with a 73-65 win over Allegheny. It’s the Bishops first NCAA trip since 2002.

The Tigers basketball teams both saw their seasons come to abrubt finished on Tuesday in the NCAC Quarterfinals. The men lost 65-60 to Kenyon and the women were beat by Ohio Wesleyan 67-61.

It’s the best time of the year! The NCAC Tourney begins Tuesday night and the Tigers men and women will both be in action. Here are the match-ups in the Quarterfinals:
Men
#1 Wooster vs. #8 Denison
#4 Wittenberg vs. #5 Kenyon
#2 Ohio Wesleyan vs. #7 Allegheny
#3 Hiram vs. #6 Wabash
Women

Wittenberg was blasted 68-43 at Wabash on Wednesday night. The Tigers are now 12-12, 8-7 in the NCAC with only Saturday’s date with Kenyon remaining.

Witt beats IU East; loses McKee

The Tigers beat the IU East Red Wolves 80-69 on Monday, but may have lost freshman guard Josh McKee. McKee left the game in the second half to an ankle injury. He is “questionable” for Wednsday’s game at Wabash.

The Tigers dispatched of Earlham 84-70 on Wednesday night to remain tied with Kenyon for fourth place in the NCAC. Wooster beat Hiram and Ohio Wesleyan got past Wabash to create of three-way tie atop the standings:

Wittenberg 7-4
Kenyon 7-4
