Last week was so much fun. I went with my friend to her home in Indiana because I couldn’t go home for fall break. (It was from last Friday to this Tuesday.) That’s one of the things I love about college - sometimes when you can’t go home or need to go somewhere, your friends are there to help you. It was great to meet all her friends and get some good homecooked food off campus. Now it’s back to reality and schoolwork, but homecoming is this weekend. I can’t wait to see what happens. ![]()
the week after fall break
A fun night
So I know last night was Monday, but I had so much fun. I don’t usually go out like that on a weekday, but at stressful times like these (before fall break) the work piles up and you need to let off a little steam. So a bunch of my friends and I went to TGIFs. I really recommend getting the pulled pork sandwich and the spinach dip if you want to share that with people. Afterwards, we went to Best Buy and got some dvd’s (Knocked up, Sixteen Candles, 300). So how did we end this night? Through moral support. All of us went up with one of our friends to see what she had gotten on her bio test because it was posted at the science center, and because she was afraid she might have failed. With subjects like biology, you really need to study a lot more than she did. (A cumulation of 1-2 hours, not impressive.) The sciences are managable at Wittenberg, and it’s one of its strongest fields. The work, as I’ve been told, can be rigorous at times but it so prepares you for whatever you do with what you learn and you gain so much information from it. Anyway, the end of the night was spent studying and writing a paper for me. I’m so excited because my friend offered to take me with her to her home in Indiana this weekend. I wasn’t going anywhere for fall break, but I can’t wait to get a home cooked meal and off campus for the first time in a while.
The end of a long week
Things are finally beginning to settle down a little in the workload. And for the first time this summer, I got to see my parents! Right now, there are a lot of people from Ohio here, so seeing my parents come all the way from Connecticut was great. They took me to Target (an essential for a college student) and we went to a cool place called The Dock which I would recommend to anyone. The food is adequate, but you seriously feel like you’re in the middle of the Caribbean. I feel kind of bad for ditching them Saturday night, but after a hard week like mine I felt like I needed to blow off some steam. Another thing I’m excited about is traveling abroad. Today was the Study Abroad Fair and I was psyched. When you can travel abroad depends a lot on your major, but it was really interesting to see all the places you could go to including China, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, England, etc. It may be a little early for me to think about this, but I’ve always wanted to go to another country. It seems even more in reach of me when I found out that you can get scholarships for it too.
I think it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve written, but I’ve been pretty busy with school. Three papers and an exam in seven days equals little sleep. Luckily that doesn’t happen very often. What doesn’t help is to go to your friend’s room and procrastinate for a few hours (which yes, I did). At least I had a good weekend. My race went well and our team had a theme party that night. They’re always a lot of fun and, corny as it sounds, unite our team. Wittenberg’s really big on that team quality. Â Â Â
first post!!
Hi,
Since this is my first post, I thought I’d tell a little about myself. My name is Margot Nevin, and I’m from Darien, Connecticut (a little far I know). I’m a freshman at Witt, I live in Woodlawn Hall (the all-girls dorm), and my major is undecided. My classes include my Wittsem (one of many seminar classes all freshmen have to take), Why We Believe Weird Things, Philosophical Perspectives in Education, English 101, and Intro to Sociology. I’ve gotten involved with cross country and the Torch (our newspaper), and I’m thinking about joining a sorority next semester. I really don’t have much to say at the moment, but I thought I’d get all that boring info. out of the way so no one’s left in the dark later. Until next time.
