Formals!

Hey everyone! So this week a lot of the fraternities and sororities are having their formals. I love this time of year because it reminds me of prom from high school (minus the limo and the prom king and queen thing). Anyway, this year I didn’t really go to any Greek formals, but my friend Megan invited me to the American International Association formal. A lot of international students and their friends attended (obviously). Even if you don’t get invited to a formal, there are ones like the AIA one you can sign up for or your friend may invite you. No one has to miss out. I’m not gonna lie…I didn’t know a whole lot of people at the beginning of the evening, but I met some really cool people I had never hung out with before. There was a nice dinner at a country club in Springfield followed by dancing from about 9:30 to 12:00. It was good music in general, and all I can remember most is laughing at Megan’s dance moves. If you ever come here and meet her, you’ll understand. She’s one of those people who’s always in a good mood and it shows. :) Anyway, it was a fun night. I wish it could have been on a Saturday instead of Sunday because it probably could have lasted a little longer but that’s a minor detail. Other than that, there’s just a lot of stuff coming up with finals and work involved with them. Wittfest, our annual Wittenberg concert, will be around that time too - lots of games during the day and concerts at night. (Wittenberg brings in a special band every year too - one year it was Vanessa Carlton. I love her down-to-earth music). I don’t know too much more about it myself, but that’s what makes it more exciting I guess. I’ll let you know more as time goes by and it’s getting close… :)

Post break

So once again, I have a lot to catch up on. Spring break was kind of boring because our break is a little sooner than some other schools. It was very relaxing though - it was good to see the family and hang out with the few friends that actually were home. Since I’ve been back, things have been a little less hectic. For the last couple of weeks, schoolwork has been light. And of course, this was the best for St. Patty’s Day. My neighbor, Mary, some of our friends, and I went out that night and had a great time. For the beginning of the night, we just hung out and talked in her room. May sound a little boring, but some of the topics just kept us laughing for the longest time. Later that night, as expected, all of us went out and had a good time. Let’s just say St. Patrick’s Day isn’t one of the most celebrated days on campus for nothing. A lot of us went out again that Saturday night to McMurray’s, and had a lot of fun too. It just felt great to be able to blow off a lot of steam and just chill after so many exams before break and a kind of uneventful break for myself. Otherwise, school and the like is pretty predictable. Tomorrow I’m meeting with my advisor to discuss my schedule. There are a lot of classes I want to take, but I need to get my math placement score up first. My advice to any freshman who has a low math placement or writing placement score is to get it raised as quickly as possible. It can affect what classes you get into for any general education requirements you need to fulfill or just any interesting classes.
