The Poli-Sci journal is finally done. Next year, I hope to see all first year students pick up a copy and read it.jk. Anyways, I’m the Editor for the Poli-Sci journal and I am glad to finally be done with it and get it to the publisher. Honestly, it looks really nice. President Erickson wrote a sweet Afterword for this year’s edition. What other school can you go to and find the president taking time to write a note for a department journal? yeah, WITT is cool.
Poli-Sci Journal–WITT is Cool
Just Chillin
I am done with all of my exams!! Woooh!! That feels really good. A bunch of my friends have exams to take, so I’m trying not to distract them too much…Well, I’m lying, I have 5 more days until graduation and I’m done with all of my exams, I WILL distract them all day. Earlier, I told them we would shoot around for a couple minutes, but with the weather being so gorgeous, we played basketball for three hours. That’s the thing about Witt, we start playing basketball for a little, and before we know it, a lot of other students join in. Play hard and work hard.:)
The Beginning of the End
I am beginning my first week of the last starting week of classes. Well, I guess that’s confusing, what I mean is that because I‘m a senior, this is the last set of classes I am taking at Witt. I’m taking a bunch of gen-eds and working on an honors thesis. One advice: get your gen-eds out the way early when you come to Witt. In addition to classes, I have the weather to worry about. I’ll put some pictures up soon. Anyways, Witt is covered with snow and tonight it is suppose to be in the negatives–I’m serious this time. While walking to class, I slipped and fell and lost my shoes and my soul. I saw the light (my body temperature did).
Buckeyes, Wolverines, and a Hurricane
So, I am not an Ohio State fan, but I must admit that Ohio State did hand it to Michigan. My envy for Ohio State is rooted in the 2002 national championship game when the referees cheated after the Miami Hurricanes had already won the game. In my book, Miami won that year. Nonetheless, my decision to go to school in Ohio has nothing to do with that game, if it did, I would have went to school in Mars. Every year, however, the students at Witt hold big parties for the Ohio State v. Michigan game. There’s always a lot of food and it’s always a lot fun–at least when Ohio State win…
The End of Fall, but the Beginning of Track
Now, even though I’ve been working out, I still got sore from our first couple practices. Our first meet is December 6, 19 days before Santa Clause have his one and only track meet of the year. For now we are alternating running 150 meters to build up speed and 20 minute runs to work on our base. Though the change of weather is not great news, track practice is!!!
Oh, I forgot, I have even more great news: the distant runners had a great season and they are getting geared up for regional this weekend! When they get done, they will probably tease us for thinking that 600 meters is a long distant.
Homecoming Parade!!
Trying to look good at the homecoming parade as one of the homecoming courts. The parade was amazing!1
Homecoming Barbeque @ BCH
Homecoming barbeque at the Black Culture House with alums and more…The food was great and the stories shared were even better!!
Homecoming 2008 Was a Blast!!
Witt Looks More Beautiful After the Ugly Storm
A couple weeks ago, I got up, left my house, and proceeded to walk to class. Only this time, before I made it to class, I had to hurdle some tree branches, avoid a pile of leaf, and ignore the squirrel that hangs around faculty court that was eyeing me because his tree house fell to pieces.
What happened?
Well, depend on who you ask. If you asked my friends from the Midwest, they will say they saw the biggest and worst wind storm ever, but if you ask me, a Miami “Hurricane” native, I’ll just say it was mother nature being silly. A couple weeks ago we had a wind storm that knocked a lot of trees down and had Wittenberg looking like a mess. As I was walking to class, I felt like I was back at home during hurricane season, though, not nearly as bad as when our real storms hit. I was not surprised by the damage done by the storm, but was surprise by my friends who was pulling out their cameras and taking pictures of the fallen trees: they were just flabbergasted. Haven’t they heard of Hurricanes?? Well, I’m not going to pick on them since I act the same way when the temperature drops below 60 degrees.
The neat part though, was seeing all the Witt students volunteering to help clean up. There was an email sent out that asked for volunteers and within a couple hours, students flooded the hollow to help clean up: picking branches, logs, and trash. Now, the campus looks more beautiful than before the ugly storm came in town. I guess mother nature knew what she was doing when she picked Witt to visit.
