So spring break is finally approaching! It is a mere two days away and I cannot wait. Unfortunately, I have an anatomy exam that is currently absorbing any joy that I may have. But my senior capstone is over (I got an 88 which is huge since there has been only 1 A out of 11 people), and my hell week is over. So I guess a 35 point essay on capillary exchange, respiration, and hummoral/cellular immunity shouldn’t stand in the way of my joy. My friend Tori finished today and we went to Station 1 to celebrate. This is where I spent my afternoon after capstone with good friends, beer, and pizza. We talked about how old we are now that we are leaving Witt and a new class of freshman will enter. I was even called a senior citizen in one of the classes that I’m in!

So for spring break I will be waiting the birth of my nephew, Caiden! I have a niece and couldn’t love her more, but this is a boy..a completely different kid, should be super fun. My little dog, George will be coming with me as well, but it will definitely be relaxing and I will be catching up on sleep!

So since I have been sleeping away my afternoon, I had better start studying for this exam! Good luck on midterms and enjoy any breaks that you may have!

If you come on a visit, ask to have a girl named Woodard as your tour guide

So there are officially less than 100 days until graduation and I am about to face my busiest week of the entire semester. Monday I have a political science exam and a statistics exam. Thursday is my anatomy lab practical and Friday is my senior capstone presentation! It might not seem like a lot, but between work and meetings and Delta Gamma stuff, it is definitely going to be a busy one. I am almost done with my capstone presentation, but still need to finish the powerpoint. It has to be a total of 40 minutes and then time for questions in the end…I am freaking out!

Once this week is over, I will have more of a life and will be able to tell you about my last semester senior antics! My friend Woodard will be awaiting me at Station 1, a favorite hangout, with pizza and drinks and relaxing conversation. I cannot wait!

So wish me luck, and good luck as Monday comes!

I have been working on my capstone presentation. It is officially 15 days away and I have a lab practical in a & p the day before so starting to stress out. I have also been sick again for the last few weeks.

This is a short post, but I hope that everyone is doing great and staying warm.

Happy studies!

Welcome to the second week of my last semester in my senior year. And it has been crazy! I have been working on my senior capstone which is time consuming. I also had three, two page papers due on Friday, a Latin root quiz in anatomy, and 50 pages to read (which I didn’t!). Fortunately, I received my first acceptance into nursing school on Monday! I was thrilled knowing that I can get in to school and I have my Wittenberg professors and my bosses to thank for that!

This week kicked off sorority recruitment! The girls had gone through house tours in the fall to get a feeling for each house. On Wednesday we have three groups that came into our house to learn about our philanthropy. I love rush week because I love to meet new girls and talk to them. Even if some do not end up choosing Delta Gamma for their sorority, you get to know a lot about other women on this campus so the next time you see them, you can say hi. Thursday was part two of philanthropy night and Friday was out sisterhood day/skit night. It was so great because our sophomores performed Grease, in the DG version. They did such a great job and it was fun to experience seeing smiles on each persons face.

Tonight is preference night. It is where the girls make the decision on which house they want to be apart of. As a senior, I sing a song, and it tends to be an emotional night. Hopefully the tears do not come pouring down! I wrote a letter to my little, AY, and started balling, so it that is a precursor to the night, it will be a looongg night! Wish me luck!

Peace and Love

For the past 5 days, I have been enjoying the ocean, sand, and sun of the Cayman Islands. It has been a blast. We left South Bend Sunday morning around 8am to get to Chicago O’Hare’s Airport. Of course we made it through check-in and security (my bag had to be looked over twice!) and then we get to our gate and find that our plane is still on the island. So we wait…and wait…and wait, until it is a 3 hour delay! It was so long waiting. The flight was about 3 hours 45 minutes. It seemed longer though since my 22-month niece is currently potty training and insists that you take her to the bathroom every 5 minutes. We made it around 8 pm to Cayman. The warmth and smell was enough to get excited about the upcoming week!

Monday we went to eat at a place called Eat’s for breakfast. It was a good as I have remembered from past vacations to the islands. We went to get groceries, which were so expensive. The currency exchange is not very good for the US dollar down here. It is also weird because you have to drive on the left side of the road and the residents of the island drive crazy!

Tuesday, my family and I went to the Cayman Island Turtle Farm. This is a picture of me holding one of the turtles. I absolutely loved it. It was my favorite part of the trip so far and probably will be. My niece absolutely loved the turtles and my sister got her a stuffed animal turtle which Ella has named “Froggy.” Oh to be two again!! At night we enjoyed good fish tacos and drinks.

Wednesday was a lazy day, but very windy! We lounged on the beach in the hot sun, I got burnt, of course, and then swam. So far I have finished 4 books, non-academic. We went to dinner again where I got crab cakes, a garlic shrimp linguine, and desert of a sticky toffee pudding. It was all very delicious and filling and definitely helped me fall asleep from the food baby that was digesting in my stomach.

Today was very eventful! My brother-in-law and I went to Stingray City this morning. We went on a tour with Moby Dick Tours. We got to snorkel the barrier reef that circles Grand Cayman, and then we got to swim, feed, pet, hold, and kiss the stingrays. The rays are huge! We fed them cut up squid pieces and they sucked it out of our hands quickly. The tale is that if you kiss a stingray you will get 7 years of good luck, so I obviously gave it more than one kiss The tour guides were quite hilarious as they were telling us to feed the stingrays sparingly since most are female; because they are female, they would most likely leave once the food was gone. They were quite the jokesters especially when describing the difference between the male and female stingrays.

I hope that you all are enjoying your winter break from school and classes. As it is New Year’s Eve, have a safe night stay out of trouble as best as possible and have a great time bringing in the New Year of 2010! The best year ever since I am graduating!

Peace, love, and happiness

Hi Everyone,

I hope that you all had a fabulous holiday. It was rainy and freezing cold here in South Bend, IN, but nevertheless, still fun! My almost 2 year-old niece went around telling everyone to have a “Merrily Christmas Tree” and was not too phased by the mass quantities of gifts that she had from Santa. I of course got her something that she enjoyed, 95 fun pieces of food items to go with her little kitchen that she obsessed over for the entire morning. As her godmother, I feel happy that she liked it but also sorry for my sister and brother-in-law for the many pieces that are now sprawled over their living room!

I do hope that many of you find yourselves in a warm place this year. My mom, sister, sister’s husband, niece, and I will be heading south this year to the Cayman Islands. I promise to have pictures of whatever I can take, if I remember to post when I get back. We are leaving tomorrow and I cannot wait! I already know that there will be loads to tell and write about. I hope that each and everyone one of you have a great New Year and be safe!

It is that infamous word that haunts many other Witt students like me…the F word. No, no…not the bad one, but the future word that our parents and teachers have been asking us about since we became old enough to talk. I know that I have been talking much about applications and the end of the year, but it is really coming soon and is currently taking over my life. As I think of the future, I try to think of a few other F words that describe my past 3 years here: fun, food, fear, fever, finals, and family. Fun for the good times, food for the times I’m with my sisters or studying, fear because it is a great new experience leaving almost everyone scared, fever from the swine, finals, and of course family.

I spent last weekend enjoying the friends, sisters, and family participating in the Christmas Parties that happen all over campus. Everyone knows the stress of finals, but it is a time to relax, have a few beverages, and have fun. To say the least, I am reaping the consequences of the lack of studying that weekend, but for one weekend I did not have to worry about applications, more school, and well, life.

As break approaches so do finals. I hope that something warm and relaxing is in the future for you as it is for me after your tests!

Thanksgiving break was a much needed break from the studies and the overwhelming cloud of finals a mere few weeks ahead. It was great to be able to see my family and my crazy 21-month old niece, Ella, who is already 31 inches tall…that is half of me!! My boyfriend was able to come up to Granger to have the holiday with my family. It was so fun! My aunt also came up from Muncie, Indiana. She told me a story of how she met and dated (briefly), Dave Thomas! It was really funny to hear the story. We have small Thanksgivings in my home, there was only 9 of us this year.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and let me tell you, I will never, ever wake up that early to go shopping again! My mom wanted Mark and I to find a portable DVD player for my aunt. Of course she was leaving on Friday back to Muncie so Mark and I embarked on the journey through the SuperTarget to find the DVD player. It was so crazy! People are not nice at all on this shopping day either. I tend to get very stressed and anxious in situations like that, so i was not a happy person. On top of it all, it was 5:30 in the morning…not a time I usually see. Mark and I managed to be in and out in an hour. Of course, my mom and I go Xmas shopping today and the sales are the same today as they were yesterday with a smaller number of people!

I hope that your had a very fun and enjoyable holiday this Thanksgiving! Can’t wait for Christmas and snow!

Hi all!

So yes, I divulged in the Twilight Saga: New Moon obsession this evening/morning since this post is at 2:52am. I think for the whole story of my obsession, we must start from the beginning…Wednesday. So after class on Wednesday, my friend Jenn (who was probably more excited to go than I was), invited me along for a ride to get her and her roomates tickets. I decided, hey why not get tickets too thinking it will be a great experience. We got to the movie theater at 12:45 thinking they’d sell us tickets but we were wrong. We had to come back around 3:30. So not happy about that situation. Well, we went to the dg house for lunch, waited a very long time, then left at 3. We sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes before someone got out of their car and walked to the ticket box. At this time, more people were coming in to buy their tickets for the 12:01 showing. Well, Jenn and I got anxious and basically got out of the car to stand in line thinking there were only going to be 10 tickets left. Oh, there were 300 still. We laughed it off and told everyone. This is what we did on Wednesday instead of work on our experimental design paper (sorry Danielle!)

Thursday! Yea for the midnight showing of New Moon!! There were five of us that went tonight: Jenn, Sam, Lindsey, Mark, and myself. Mark decided to stay up late and drive us to the movie–so very sweet! We felt that the theater was going to be packed so we decided to leave campus at 10:30 and to get there and save seats. Well, that was a bad judgement. We had to sit in the theater with tons of kids wearing Twilight gear for an hour and a half! It was so fun laughing with friends for that time. It was an easy, but hard period of time. Luckily, we saw some Witt students who could not help themselves from the Edward or Jacob drama. The movie finally starts, and let me tell you, it was good! I read the books (not just once), so I was slightly disappointed, but the boys definitely make a good debate for who is hotter! I started out as Team Edward, but quickly switched to Team Jacob although I know for the third, I’ll probably switch back again. The acting is definitely better than the first movie.

I guess the moral of this story is, even though we are seniors in college busy with grad applications, job applications and the worry of the slow-creeping finals ahead, there is still a kid in all of us! I will never forget the 5 hours Jenn and I waited for tickets, or the hour and a half sitting staring at a blank screen laughing with friends while stuffing our face with Sour Patch Kids, popcorn, and pop. I hope that when you find the college or university of your choice, remember to enjoy yourself and let loose once in a while. Find the inner child who does not worry about class or homework or papers, but rather focus on who is hotter, Edward or Jacob.

GO TEAM JACOB! (at least for now :))

Monday…another beginning to the week and a busy one at that! Yesterday, sororities on campus had the first day of formal recruitment. It is called Passport Day and is a day where prospective members can come and view all five greek houses: AdiPi, Gamma Phi, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Delta, and of course, Delta Gamma. For the members of DG, we had to get at the house at 11 to get ready to show the girls around. It is so fun and exciting to have recruitment because you get to meet tons of new girls and the potential new members. It is a very overwhelming experience on both sides, members and those who want to be new members. It was a long day, but November has been spoiling all of us when it comes to weather. It was warm and gorgeous!!

Tonight, we had intramurals. It was the first game that I was able to play with since I had H1N1. I actually did pretty well considering that my respiratory system has been on the ultimate low. We won tonight, so it was pretty fun!

This week, since Thanksgiving is coming up, classes have been super busy! I have an anatomy exam that we are trying to move to Monday so there is a little bit of extra time to study. I have an experimental design paper that is due in lab on Monday as well. Going to be a bit of a crazy weekend. I am definitely ready for the break that is coming up…I think all students are ready for home, family, and lots of great food!!!

Happy Studying!
