Team Edward vs. Team Jacob

Hi all!

So yes, I divulged in the Twilight Saga: New Moon obsession this evening/morning since this post is at 2:52am.  I think for the whole story of my obsession, we must start from the beginning…Wednesday.  So after class on Wednesday, my friend Jenn (who was probably more excited to go than I was), invited me along for a ride to get her and her roomates tickets.  I decided, hey why not get tickets too thinking it will be a great experience.  We got to the movie theater at 12:45 thinking they’d sell us tickets but we were wrong.  We had to come back around 3:30. So not happy about that situation. Well, we went to the dg house for lunch, waited a very long time, then left at 3. We sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes before someone got out of their car and walked to the ticket box. At this time, more people were coming in to buy their tickets for the 12:01 showing.  Well, Jenn and I got anxious and basically got out of the car to stand in line thinking there were only going to be 10 tickets left.  Oh, there were 300 still. We laughed it off and told everyone.  This is what we did on Wednesday instead of work on our experimental design paper (sorry Danielle!)

Thursday! Yea for the midnight showing of New Moon!! There were five of us that went tonight: Jenn, Sam, Lindsey, Mark, and myself.  Mark decided to stay up late and drive us to the movie–so very sweet! We felt that the theater was going to be packed so we decided to leave campus at 10:30 and to get there and save seats.  Well, that was a bad judgement. We had to sit in the theater with tons of kids wearing Twilight gear for an hour and a half! It was so fun laughing with friends for that time.  It was an easy, but hard period of time.  Luckily, we saw some Witt students who could not help themselves from the Edward or Jacob drama. The movie finally starts, and let me tell you, it was good! I read the books (not just once), so I was slightly disappointed, but the boys definitely make a good debate for who is hotter! I started out as Team Edward, but quickly switched to Team Jacob although I know for the third, I’ll probably switch back again. The acting is definitely better than the first movie.

I guess the moral of this story is, even though we are seniors in college busy with grad applications, job applications and the worry of the slow-creeping finals ahead, there is still a kid in all of us! I will never forget the 5 hours Jenn and I waited for tickets, or the hour and a half sitting staring at a blank screen laughing with friends while stuffing our face with Sour Patch Kids, popcorn, and pop.  I hope that when you find the college or university of your choice, remember to enjoy yourself and let loose once in a while.  Find the inner child who does not worry about class or homework or papers, but rather focus on who is hotter, Edward or Jacob.

GO TEAM JACOB!  (at least for now :))

Recruitment and Intramurals

Monday…another beginning to the week and a busy one at that! Yesterday, sororities on campus had the first day of formal recruitment. It is called Passport Day and is a day where prospective members can come and view all five greek houses: AdiPi, Gamma Phi, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Delta, and of course, Delta Gamma. For the members of DG, we had to get at the house at 11 to get ready to show the girls around. It is so fun and exciting to have recruitment because you get to meet tons of new girls and the potential new members.  It is a very overwhelming experience on both sides, members and those who want to be new members. It was a long day, but November has been spoiling all of us when it comes to weather.  It was warm and gorgeous!!

Tonight, we had intramurals.  It was the first game that I was able to play with since I had H1N1.  I actually did pretty well considering that my respiratory system has been on the ultimate low. We won tonight, so it was pretty fun!

This week, since Thanksgiving is coming up, classes have been super busy! I have an anatomy exam that we are trying to move to Monday so there is a little bit of extra time to study. I have an experimental design paper that is due in lab on Monday as well. Going to be a bit of a crazy weekend.  I am definitely ready for the break that is coming up…I think all students are ready for home, family, and lots of great food!!!

Happy Studying!

November and Fall

November officially has arrived…well 12 days ago! I absolutely love November because it usually has less rain the October and gorgeous leaves.  Campus at this time of year is so fun and beautiful.  Fall is one of my favorite seasons and so far the weather has been really nice.  It has been getting a little chilly, but nothing a light jacket can fix.

Even better, today is the first day I do not feel sick! I finally am not coughing anymore and do not get tired after 10 minutes. There have not been many more cases of H1N1 that I know of, which is great!

Had a physics test yesterday which was ok. I was able to finish every questions and still had a little bit of time. I am definitely starting to get the mixed feelings about senior year and I think it is showing in my study skills…senioritis.

I had lunch with a good friend today who is a junior and he was telling me how crazy it is to be graduating and that he will be a senior.  College definitely goes by a lot quicker than high school, and I thought high school went by really, REALLY fast. But I have been enjoying every single minute of it this year!

One thing that you become awesome at in college is the art of taking naps! It has become time for the daily hour nap, so have fun and be safe this weekend!

Slow Week

Tuesday is finally coming to and end. I don’t know if it is because I was out for a whole week due to illness or the overwhelming cloud that I have an exam at 11:30 and I have barely studied, but this week is a slow one.  I forget to mention the “Extreme Makeover” episode that featured a family from Beavercreek, OH and the scholarship money that Witt gave out to the family’s four children! It was such a great episode to watch.  That show is so emotional, but so amazing.

I definitely have beens super tired as well.  That could also cause the drag in the long day.  This week will basically be busy with class work, but it is going to be a huge week for Witt Athletics!

On Sunday, we have the first day of sorority recruitment, Passport Day.  Basically girls who would like to go through formal recruitment can get a view of the houses, meet some girls, and have an enjoyable Sunday.  Best of all, this week has been a perfect fall week, in the 50’s-60’s, and SUNNY! It’s great weather for November!

Have a great rest of the week!

Finally…not sick!

I survived the swine flu! Well, almost still have a respiratory infection. I am sorry that is has been a while since the last post.  All I was able to do was lay in bed, drink water, and eat lots of soup.  I can truly say that I will probably not eat chicken noodle soup for a long, long time.

The upside of being sick, I did not have to go to classes all week, but the bad side of it is that I had to make up all the work that I missed.  Not too much but I do have a physics test on Wednesday that I am not super excited (or ready) for.

I can’t really say that this is the most interesting blog so far.  Swine flu has been my enemy for the past week and I am now getting over it.  I hope that you all have great start to your week!

HAPPY MONDAY!

H1N1

So the swine flu has finally caught up with me and I have been quarantining myself in my apartment. Fortunately I have been able to get the antibiotic, Tamiflu, in hopes to make a quicker recovery. I now have to figure out how to get excused from all my classes.  One great thing about the professors here at Witt is that they are very flexible.  They all understand that H1N1 is very serious. I went home this weekend because of a cold, and came out with a positive test for Influenza A.

If any of you have been tested for the Flu A, you will know and understand that the simple test is not pleasant. It is a little swab that goes up your nasal cavity. The nurse who performed the test felt so bad but I knew she was immune to the ow’s, and oh my’s while she twisted the tip in my nose.

I know this is short, but I am so tired, but I want you to all wash your hands and carry hand sanitizer around with you. I did not have all the symptoms including fever and nausea, but I do have a horrendous cough and terrible chest pain.  If you feel like you may have some symptoms, please go check.  If you can catch in within the first 48 hours, you can get the antibiotic.

STAY HEALTHY!

Mondays….

Hi to all!

Homecoming weekend was a blast! It was so amazing to see people that graduated from Wittenberg, whether it was just last year in 2009 or in 1999. They each had something special to tell me about their life at Wittenberg.  Remember that when you make you college decision and you hear everyones stories or tales about college, it will be different from you own.  Sometimes it can be very similar, but everyone is different.

One thing that I pride myself on is the diversity that I can bring to the group.  Not only because I am a Korean adopted into a caucasian family, but because of my personality.  My characteristics of who makes my personality have been brought out because of Wittenberg and the people here.  I am shy when others are boisterous, I am loud when others are shy.  I will cry in the most embarrasing situation but can laugh with my friends too. Homecoming has really given me a much better idea of why I am a Wittenberg Tiger.

On a more serious note…advising for my last spring semester will be tomorrow! It seems so insane that my 4 years here at Witt are almost up. As graduation comes more into focus, I am gradually becoming more and more in denial. It is the scariest thing that has happened, but again, I know that I will have friends and family to be there for me!

Going to be late for lab! Talk to you all soon!

Friends+Family+Football=HOMECOMING!

It is finally here, the week that many people anticipate for either the big game, the cook outs, or just seeing old friends. For me, it is representing a huge milestone in my college career here at Wittenberg…my LAST homecoming…well at least as an undergrad. It is so crazy to think we are almost through October. I am a mere 2 months from being done with my last fall semester. It is horrifying to think about.

Well, homecoming. The red and white signs are up everywhere. Today is rather glum with the rain, but overall the spirits are high! Alumni have started to return, professors and faculty are getting ready and hopefully the football team is getting limbered up! I am excited to say that tomorrow will be a cookout at the Delta Gamma house in honor of homecoming and all of our alumni returning. I cannot wait.

I speak of family, not only because of the family that I have with friends here at Wittenberg, but I am from a long tradition of Witt students and graduates. I am hoping that my dad will be here to make it! Wittenberg is actually the place where my parents met on a blind date! Romantic, huh? There are also new family and friends that I am making. I like to keep open eyes to those that I am meeting. I love new experiences and no homecoming is ever the same. I am learning about great times here at Witt from before I was even born, which I feel was a looonnnggg time ago!

However, with homecoming just a few hours away, I do need that beauty sleep. So nap time for the old college girl! You never know who you will meet!!!!!

Tiger up and GO WITT!

Fall Break!

Fall break is here! After long nights of studying for anatomy and physics, I am finally able to take a break! I am trying to catch up on my sleep but it has been very difficult. Friday after my exams, my boyfriend and I left for St. Louis! A long 6 hour drive where I slept most of the time.  I lost the game when trying to find the arch (I never know where to look!). Last night we just ate with his family and got settled.

Today, my boyfriends sister had a very successful yard sale and we just hung out with her and her husband.  After the yard sale was over, Mark, Mike (the brother), and I went to downtown STL. I got extremely dizzy looking up at the Gateway Arch from the bottm. It is so cool to look at. Definitely very trippy when the clouds are moving and your equilibrium is very off.

It was so cool, we went to the courthouse where Dred Scott fought for his freedom from slavery. It was really inspiring to stand where tons of people centuries ago stood.

Tomorrow is a new day! Going to a pumpkin patch with some of Mark’s nieces and to a pony riding place. Seems pretty cool and should be fun.

Have a great weekend!

4 more days…

Hi All!

Happy Monday! Only four more days filled with long nights of studies, lots of coffees, and tons of text messages to my friends Kelsey and Jenn about how little fun the studying is. Of course, just like in my high school, all of my midterms are on the same day. Very nervous but cannot wait until Friday-FALL BREAK!

I saw my friend and fellow DG who graduated last year over the weekend. She made me think of being a senior. It’s so weird that I am going through my last fall semester here at Witt and fall break, which marks halfway though fall semester, is almost over. Cassidy asked me if I felt like a senior, and in all honestly, I don’t. Maybe I am in denial.

Today was a gorgeous fall day here at Witt. If you get the chance to visit, definitely try to come in the early fall or late spring.  These gorgeous fall days make it especially difficult to study and recopy notes.  Physics is the one that I am least excited to study.  We have online homework that tells you that you are within 10% to 100% of the correct answer, labs, and of course the grueling one-hour test.

On a happier note, fall break I am going to Saint Louis to visit my boyfriends family. I live close to Chicago so when I first visited STL, it was crazy. Lots more red and white than blue, huge malls, and the zoo! Unfortunately, a long 6 hour drive is ahead, but I will get to sleep the way down. Much needed break for all students here.

Good luck on your midterms!
